Growing up in the 1960’s and the let’s go outside to play era and raising my kids with a focus on outdoor play I have come to realize the importance of the connection of children, educators and families to nature and natural elements. This connection has now become part of every workshop I deliver, from challenging behaviours to greening outdoor classrooms. Also, all of the workshops I present include a direct connection to the E.L.E.C.T. Document (Early Learning for Every Child Today) and How Does Learning Happen? Ontario’s Pedagogy for the Early Years.
I am registered with the College of Early Childhood Educators, have an Early Childhood Resource Teacher certificate from Humber College and am certified by the AECEO. I graduated from the Early Childhood Education program at Mohawk College of Applied Arts and Technology in 1980 so I understand the challenges of growing with the times; the shift from Theme Based programming to an Inquiry Based, Child Focused with play as the learning model.
I have worked in Child Care, Co-Operative Preschool and have been a Resource Teacher and Resource Consultant in both Hamilton and Windsor Ontario. I am experienced in most aspects of the ECE field. I worked as a Special Needs Consultant and Professional Education Consultant in Hamilton, Ontario and have presented at conferences all across Canada. I now live in the Windsor-Essex area of Ontario.
I am very excited to offer you the opportunity to have in-service training or mentoring at your school/centre. I like to have fun, interactive workshops with all topics, even the more serious ones, because it helps people relax and participate more, and also helps people remember what they’ve heard.
On a more personal note, I am the mother of two amazing young adults; I like gardening, bird watching, photography and just being outside watching my pond.
I do hope I can be of service to you and your staff/families.
